About Us

Mbilla* Arts CIC was established in 2006 by Gambian musician Seneke Sillah and arts educator Chantelle Michaux.  Our mission is to use rhythm and movement to share stories, connect communities and celebrate the rich cultural traditions of West Africa.

Based in Waltham Forest, our programme offers creative and employment opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, in partnership with organisations including Waltham Forest Council, A New Direction, Organiclea, Havering Changing, Creative Barking & Dagenham, Waltham Forest Music Service, as well as nurseries, schools, and colleges.

*Mbilla is a Wolof word from Gambia meaning antelope – nimble and quick with its acrobatic moves, embodying the spirit of the dancer.
