About Us

Mbilla* Arts CIC was established in 2006 by Gambian musician Seneke Sillah and arts educator Chantelle Michaux.  Our mission is to promote art forms of Africa and the diaspora with people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities as a means of developing positive health and well-being in our community and beyond.

Based in Waltham Forest, our programme includes extensive opportunities for adults and young people to gain creative and employment skills in partnership with other organisations including Waltham Forest Council, the NHS, Organiclea, Inky Cuttlefish Studio, Havering Changing, Green Shoes Arts and nurseries, schools and colleges.

*Mbilla is a Wolof word from Gambia meaning antelope – nimble and quick with its acrobatic moves, embodying the spirit of the dancer.
