We’re thrilled to invite you to an unforgettable afternoon of African-inspired creativity, rhythm, and community celebration, right in the heart of Walthamstow!
As part of the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2025, we’re bringing together local residents of all ages for a joyful event filled with live performances, interactive workshops, and feel-good vibes that honour the rich cultural traditions of West Africa and the Caribbean.
Whether you want to dance, get creative, or simply soak up the atmosphere, there's something for everyone – and it’s completely free!

🎶 Live Performance: Routes to Rhythm
Don’t miss our signature show, Routes to Rhythm, a high-energy celebration of African and Caribbean music, dance, and storytelling.We’re honoured to welcome two incredible guest artists:
Koroleko Moussa – celebrated griot and master musician
Celestina Banjo – professional dancer bringing dynamic, joyful movement to the stage
🎨 Creative Workshops – Join In!
Decorate a Plant Pot Head with the talented team from The Meshway
Design Your Own Djembe Drum using leather and cork, guided by artist Amelie Matignon
Drumming & Dance Tasters – try traditional rhythms and moves from across West Africa and the Caribbean
🎧 All-Afternoon DJ Set
Keep the vibe alive with a live set from DJ Muvments, bringing uplifting tunes and chilled beats throughout the day.
